Last Christmas grandpa gave out tool boxes to the grand kids. Inside of the tool boxes were random items like a screw driver, hammer, golf balls, file, and tubing.
One day my 6 year old wanted to fix some things while I was at work. I hid the tool box in the garage and explained he could only play with it when I was around. A few days later I came home to find tools everywhere. He was building some contraption. He had his Home Depot apron and a baseball hat on. I freak out when I could see his butt crack while he bent over and demanded I hand him a screw driver. Maybe he will be a plumber...Ironically, later in the day I was putting a wagon together and had to borrow his tools to get the job done...
I think he will be better off then I am when it comes to repairing things. When he was 3 years old he unscrewed child safety locks and even took hinges off the bottom of a door. On the other hand around the same time, he stuck a fork in the outlet and got shocked :)

Church Weekend Retreat
After our trip to Florida, we drove to the Church beach retreat. We had a nice time. We met new friends and got to know others better. We also had a great theme about baptism and the journey after we are dunked.
Below is a slide show of the landscape on Fort Caswell. I also have some pictures of people/activities:
- Landscape photos in the slide show below
- People photos
- You can find these and more pictures in my Kodak Gallery.

Granny
It has been a long week. We drove down to Florida for Granny Snelgrove's funeral. I was amazed to find out the number of people she touched in her life. I know she touched mine with a great sense of humor, love, and a few pinches for the heck of it. I loved going to her house to visit. We would look at all the old family pictures, talk politics & religion, remember the farm days, and sometimes just sit and be...
Kathi spent a lot of time with her growing up and I know Granny made a big impression on her life. Talking to everyone at the funeral and dinner, I am amazed that the little old lady from Fort White made such a big impact on so many people's lives. I hope my life can be lived as full and if I impact even a small percentage of what she did, it would be an honor.
We love you Granny....

Stephen turns 6
Well my boy is getting older. He woke up and discovered a large soccer net in the backyard. We played soccer really early in the morning. What I enjoyed was the unexpected hug while we were playing. He told me he loved me and the soccer goal was the best.
I also lugged 8 bags of sand to the sandbox, that no one played with. But, at least I got a new fancy 4 wheel garden cart to use out of the deal.
This was his first real birthday party that did not only consist of family and neighbors.
He was easy going about it, just happy to have a party. He did not care about a theme or specifics.
He had about 5 kids over and they had a wonderful time. We played hide and seek, soccer, ate hot dogs and cake, open presents, ran around wild...
Click here to see the birthday party pictures. It was a really nice time and we enjoyed everyone. I hope he has these friends for a lifetime. My wife talks about relationships like that and it amazes me. I think that would be really cool.
